In modern times, there have been four sites which can claim to be called Hampden Park. All you need to know is that the First Hampden, which began construction in 1873 was the first purpose built stadium of the modern football era. All football grounds in the world have this stadium as their ancestor. The Third Hampden was the largest ground in the world for decades. Almost all the attendance records in football up to the building of the Maracana in 1950 - and beyond - belong to Hampden.
Queen’s Park FC founded the modern football stadium.
